Keep getting spontaneous alarm activation on 1998 Avensis GLS hatchback, whether set by key or fob.
Any help to determine cause or as last resort to disconnect siren would be appreciated.

I'm am not sure about the alarm systems in your area, but in the U.S. factory alarms activate the horn (klaxon) and do not have a siren.
Is the alarm in your car aftermarket? If so, then the best bet is to disconnect the alarm system.
