2000 Yaris, Car stereo question

I don't see why not - The power and speaker leads have to be there now for the cassette player, or nothing would happen.

The aerial you'll have to install complete, I doubt that the lead-in was installed unless the mast was installed at the factory. You get an antenna kit that will come with the lead-in wire attached, and one bought from the Toyota parts counter will include a routing diagram of how to get it inside the passenger compartment.

Though it seems very odd to me that they shipped the car with a cassette player but no basic AM/FM/SW mono radio - you'd think they would either delete the whole thing, or throw in a basic radio.

Then again, there's one other possible reason - but I thought the UK only required a government license for TV sets, not radios... (Some ultra cheap person decided to opt out of a radio just to save a few pennies a year.) ;-P

You can install anything you want in here, they are all DIN size now and it will use the stock brackets and take up the same amount of space.

Buy the unit, and if you get it from Crutchfield try to get them to throw in a Toyota harness adapter. Or, you can get one at the Evil Wal-Mart (Scosche) for a whopping $6.99; any other stereo place will charge you $14.99 for the exact same thing!

Mount the new unit in the bracket, attach the harness using the color-coded wires, attach the antenna lead and slid it in and bolt it down. Voila! You're finished. Set the stock radio aside for when you want to sell the car; aftermarket radios add NO value, and OEM radios command a good price on places like E-Bay.

Your car is worth more on a trade with the original radio.
