2004 Sienna XLE Braking issue

OK I've got it straight now.

2004 XLE Sienna, 46K...regular servicing intervals always at Toyota dealerships.

Wife driving about 15 mph through parking lot...An alarm sounds, followed by a "loud noise" from the rear. This was followed by the car braking and pulling to the right. Engine did not stop. The car would only crawl when attempts were made to drive it. No information lights were activated on the dashboard. Car was taken by flatbed to Big 2 Toyota in Chandler, AZ. Access to the onboard computer by the service people at Big 2 did not reveal any faults. An attempted solution was to reprogram the ABS module. This did not cure the problem. At this time, the car remains at the dealership. The dealership offered a loaner which we accepted. I then contacted Toyota regional office to ask them to offer some assistance to the dealership as the dealership is under no obligation to call regional. The dealership has been professional and curteous at all times...

Questions: Has anyone ever heard of similar problems?

Is there a possibility that this will be unresolved and the vehicle rendered useless?

Are there people within the Toyota organization at higher than regional level who can assist the dealership in solving this problem?

And once again thank you for putting up with my previous mixed-up description.

I doubt it. of course, it's possible. It sounds like there is a single fault someplace, like a bad sensor, bad actuator, whatever. It just takes some time to properly diagnose it.

Treat the dealer as the professionals that you claim they are. I don't see any reason to pursue this at this time.

The bill is in the mail.

Contact stated while driving 40 MPH or at various high speeds on normal braking conditions, the automatic braking engaged intermittently and the wheels locked up. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who upon examination determined that thesterring angle sensor failed...The dealy also stated there was a NHTSA service bulletin #10011806 regarding the service brakes, hydraulic.

Jeff: I found this at CarStats. It covers what you described.

The automatic braking engaged intermittently and the wheels locked up. Upon examination of the vehicle at the dealership it was determined that the steering angle sensor failed. The dealer stated that there was a NHTSA service bulletin #10011806 regarding the service brakes, hydraulic.

Yes, good work. He might also want to visit The SiennaClub.org. They are on top of this stuff and most likely have all the recalls, complaints etc .
