Camry running rough, Help

I have a 1994 toyota camry xle v6. It is running rough. Has never had a tuneup, got 196000 miles. Changed the air filter still running rough. Does not stall, just runs rough. Instead of a tuneup, is there any fix that will clean the plugs and cylinders excluding the wires. e.g., adding acetone to tank etc?

Thanks

What is the aversion to changing plugs? At nearly 200k miles, surely they have to at least raise suspicions in your head that perhaps maybe they are at the end of their useful life.

You could easily have problems that arise from old spark plugs. It's probable that this is the problem. You could also have broken a vacuum hose, and the result is that the air/fuel mixture is messed up. Part of the diagnostic path is going to be blocked because the car is OBD I, and getting diagnostic information from it will be tricky. Well, not tricky so much as not very rewarding. OBD II, in cars build for the '96 model year or later, have a wealth of diagnostic information available. Your car, not so much. Since you have an aversion to basic maintenance, then the problems can be many.

If it just idles rough, you may need to clean the throttle body. Does it just idle rought or is it rough when driving on the road?

Mainly idles rough with some rough when driving below 35.

Sqirt carb cleaner in the throttle body. You will have to pull the big tube off that goes to the air cleaner. Best to partially disassemble the TB to clean with fluid. Keep fluid out of electronic sensors like the throttle position sensor.

Your carb may need cleaning. It's best to have your ride checked by a mechanic so that he could pinpoint the exact problem.
