Camry vs Accord

Oops, I got Matsushita mixed up with Mitsubishi, although I did know that Panasonic is a division (or brand name) of Matsushita.

So my question should be, doesn't Mitsubishi also make NiMH battery packs for Toyota?

I doubt it. I believe Toyota's NiMH battery pack suppliers are Panasonic EV and Denso (Toyota holds equity in both companies). Mitsubishi supplies inverters for Toyota hybrids.

Thanks, Ray. The reason I ask is that Mitsubishi was involved in the ECD/Ovonic/Texaco lawsuit on NiMH patent infringement.

Panasonic, Mitsubishi, and Toyota settled out of international court in 2004, paying $10 million (to ECD/Ovonic) plus $20 million (one time?) licensing fees to Cobasys.

Looks like Sanyo manufactures the NiMH battery pack in the Ford Escape. I don't know why Mitsubishi paid $10 million, or a share thereof, to Cobasys.

Panasonic's parent company, Matsushita, makes a LOT of things you don't know about! Almost all floppy disk drives are driven by 'Panasonic' motors, ditto for CD drives. If you look at a lot of things, and see something that looks like a triangle with arrows at the ends, that part was made by Matsushita. Also, an "N" with a lightning bolt through it symbolizes Nation, which is Panasonic in the rest of the world. A lot of parts in video cameras, no matter who made it were made by Matsushita.

I don't think I knew him...I left in '79 and came back in '97. I think he may have been an assistant at one time, IIRC...

He was the service manager when I was assigned to the district in '83, I think he was there for a year or two before Jim took the service dept himself.
