Is It True?

I heard on the radio a few days ago that someone lost their keys to the car and by using their cell phone called a person with the spare remote, and by activating the remote over the phone the person locked out held their cell phone next to the door the car was unlocked. This sounds dubious at best. Anyone tried this?

It is impossible, with any radio controlled remote. The remote transmitter does not use sound to lock and unlock the doors; it uses radio waves. Holding a transmitter next to a cell phone does nothing.

this is an old internet rumor going around. However if you want to believe it, go for it.

I've heard of it, never seen it actually happen though.

Car alarm remotes trigger car alarms via radio waves, not sound. It's bull.

Of course it won't work...it'd be like you firing a gun at a TV camera and expecting the bullet to hit someone watching that TV channel in another town.

Gee, gather a clue or two...
