Large Vehicles Kill More! Smart Cars Less!

I doubt if the statistical annalists count time in the shop, when passenger miles are factored in. LOL

Raw statistics are meaningless if not quantified for number of passenger and passenger miles. The fact is around 50% of the vehicles on the road are SUVs and the average number of passengers or more than double that of cars. The US Senate report clearly shows the injury and death rates among children has dropped dramatically over the past ten years because more of them are riding in the larger safer SUVs. That fact is available if one will do a search of the Congressional Record.

The safest mode of transportation by far is by air yet more people die in the average plain crash than in the average SUV accident. However, you can bet the farm 43,000 Americans did not die in plain crashes in 2006. One has a far greater chance of dieing driving to the airport, as well. Even in time of war the average 19 to 25 year old male has a greater chance of being killed in any major US city, than fighting for their country in Iraq or Afghanistan. ;)

I don't see anywhere in this post and prior ones that you are denying this accusation. Why else would you be longly and boringly, incessantly I might say, lauding this little car? You sure sound like a MB salesman. Go buy one and please shut up on the subject.

Probablly not. I doubt Ford is willing to release that information. LOL

I doubt the odds are 3 in 1 that 2 cherokees would collide at the same time.

key word, would....

I am not lauding the car and no where do I have to prove that I am not shilling for a certain brand. That is a ridiculous statement on your part and a simple way to dismiss a debate without actually discussing it.

No, I will not shut up on the subject. It interest me how dumb hicks are retarded enough to shell out huge money on big huge cars, thinking they are safer in those cars.

Does not matter when you are going by deaths per million retard.

The

False! The death rate has dropped because of vehicle standards (in any vehicle) and newer technology, better crumple zones, etc.

More people die in large cars than in small cars. FACT! So dissing a small car is pointless and is only a way to justify riding in a gas guzzling, large, "my dick is bigger than yours" SUV!

No question about it: on average, larger mass vehicles are safer than smaller ones because the larger you get, the less the possibility of been mashed by something even larger. Obviously, smaller vehicles use less gas...hell, I recall one driving a 49cc Moped--it used hardly no gas. Of course, it couldn't carry a family or go more than about 50 kph, either.

Safety is probably well down the list of reasons they buy the larger vehicles.

Very true... Usually the first reason on the list is beating the jonses, making up for something, or penis envy.

making up for something, or

Well, several years ago, after retirement, we downsized from a Dodge Dart and a Hyundai pony to ONE 99 Camry. For the 2 of us there is absolutely NO reason for a larger vehicle. Maybe, every 10 years of so, we just might have to rent a truck for something. Clue: it is a LOT cheaper renting a larger vehicle for OCCASIONAL use than it is to buy or lease a larger vehicle and have to maintain, insure and register it.

Oh, the truck fad is another one of those things. You are not a man if you don't own a truck and it does not make loud noises. It's ridiculous. I saw some bikers on a newsgroup making fun of someome who owned a motor skoorter. I forget the brand but its one of those nicer brands... Anyway, he made a valid point. He was basically saying "Look fellah's, I use my moped to get where im going when I need to go by myself. I don't aspire to have a road hog and look like a suburban nerd in leather."

It's the macho attitude. Most bikers, now days, are your average medical doctor or business man. They all are trying to fit into a cool class, somehow.

Wrong, as usual. I've talked to the idiots.

"We had a crash in the Tahoe, and my knees were hurt. So we're getting a Suburban now."

I see the "Mike Hunt" troll is still spouting the incredibly lame "search the Congressional Record" bullshit as "substantiation" of his claims.

What an asshole.

LOL that's just dumb.
