OT Czech President Klaus ready to debate Gore on climate change

Czech President Klaus ready to debate Gore on climate change Washington - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."

Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.

"My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity," he said.

Gore a former US vice president who has become a leading international voice in the cause against global warming, was co-winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Gore's effort was highlighted by his Oscar winning documentary film An Inconvienent Truth.

Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.

"Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality," he said.

"In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat - this time, in the name of the planet," he added.

Klaus said a free market should be used to address environmental concerns and said he oppposed as unrealistic regulations or greenhouse gas capping systems designed to reduce the impact of climate change.

"It could be even true that we are now at a stage where mere facts, reason and truths are powerless in the face of the global warming propaganda," he said.

Klaus alleged that the global warming was being championed by scientists and other environmentalists whose careers and funding requires selling the public on global warming.

"It is in the hands of climatologists and other related scientists who are highly motivated to look in one direction only," Klaus said.

This could be very well why Al Gore will not even acknowledge anyone who denies his claims of man-made global warming. The hysteria has set in so well, the people and children indoctrinated so well, that he would be taking too big a chance at his empire crumbling when the facts are brought forth in a forum where he would be made to look silly.

Let's face it, he's done a great job at selling his snake oil. It will take quite an effort to educate those who are addicted to one-minute soundbites on mainstream media outlets. It'll take a well-known politician to step forth and throw some cool mist on this hot air floating around. Unfortunately there aren't any of those around that already don't have their hands in the global warming till.

I'm sure your vast knowledge of history tells you that Klaus may be just as much an environmental extremist as you believe Gore to be (and you might be right about Gore). You know this because you are well versed about how & why communist countries went to great lengths to avoid dealing with environmental messes of all kinds. Some of them continue to this day, saying good behavior would hurt industrial growth. China is the most glaring example.

This could be why he's totally kept his mouth shut during the primary.

Which climate change? The average world temperature has been constant since 1989, with the exception of 2007, when it want DOWN a bit more than one degree Celsius.

Right. And how would that work? The neo-cons can't attack global warming from the scientific side, so they now try to use the "free market."

The "free market" gave us Love Canal and a host of other similar messes in this country.

Really? Do a search and you will discover there are plenty of real earth scientist that dispute C02 as a cause of global warming, they say volcanism, movement of tectonic plates and the sun have been historically the cause, when the earth temperature was elevated.

The contention that the earth is warming is even being guestioned by NASA scientist. NASA climate recording over the past ten years show it has not been going up... The fact is, even as the CO2 level had been rising the average earth temperature declined over one degree Celsius in 2007

No evidence proves scientifically the "man as the cause" theory as being indisputable. I defy you to show any scientific evidence to prove that C02 can affect the earth average temperature to go either up or down

You're a moron. By now, you should know that if we didn't have certain environmental laws, many industries would do whatever's cheapest & easiest, which would mean more pollution. They'd have no incentive to do otherwise. If you disagree, you've been asleep for the past 60 years.

Your great grand-father "pooped" in a hole in his back yard as well, before he started to dump it in the nearby river, what's you point? LOL

Are there any scientists out there who don't accept the premise of man-made global warming?

In message news:5Ug%j.2829$ snipped-for-privacy@nlpi070.nbdc.sbc.com, SMS burned some brain cells writing:

The earth has been warmer than it is now many times, all prior to industrialization and manmade CO2.

Explain.

That is not what we are talking about joe, get back to the main subject. Once again you try to deflect the conversation away from the main topic, which you have no answer for.

Reply to

No, it's exactly the same subject. The "free market" will ***NOT*** solve a lot of problems, which is why there are laws.

Free market does not mean no laws, where in heaven did you ever get that idea?

From you. You only have about a half dozen thoughts that you cycle through. They're easy to memorize.

I'm sure that is true. The money comes for them who agree with the premise of global warming. They are compelled to go along with the crowd AND the money, grants, to further their careers or be sent to the russian front so to speak if they don't.

It is unfortunate that so many good scientists depend on grants and don't think independently. I guess if it is about food on the table, then they choose the low road. I can't blame them however, but it must be a burr in their ass for doing it. I'd hate to have to go along with something I didn't truly believe in. Gore's name is a big figure in this charade of course.
