{OT} (un) fairness doctrine

Say goodbye to freedom of speech. Once again today's progressive liberals have abandoned the principles that made this country great and are heading us into the direction of a totalitarian regime. Different ideas are unacceptable and everyone must toe the line and accept the party dogma. Now they want to shut down talk radio because it poses the greatest risk to their continued misinformation and attempts to turn us into mindless sheep.

May 7, 2007 issue - Some illiberal liberals are trying to restore the luridly misnamed Fairness Doctrine, which until 1987 required broadcasters to devote a reasonable amount of time to presenting fairly each side of a controversial issue. The government was empowered to decide how many sides there were, how much time was reasonable and what was fair.

By trying to again empower the government to regulate broadcasting, illiberals reveal their lack of confidence in their ability to compete in the marketplace of ideas, and their disdain for consumer sovereignty?and hence for the public.

The left-wing kooks should be up in arms about it, it is a free speech issue, however, I don't expect they will be. Only GWB and Republicans takes freedoms away them, LOL.

They've been trying to Hush Rush since 1988. Now that the conservatives have multiplied, they have a whole lot of them to hush. Think of Howie Carr, for instance. I wonder what his take on this is?

Something else to think about in the free speech debate:

The U.S. Army has ordered soldiers to stop posting to blogs or sending personal e-mail messages, without first clearing the content with a superior officer...
