Power Steering Pump Job - cost?

Sep 18, 2005 2 Replies

My Celica PS pump needs replacing, quoted by an independent as $695. How come so expensive? I look at the manual and it doesn't look that tough to do, the part is $150. What gives?

Do they HAVE to replace the rack at the same time? maybe that's why?

Look for another garage. Or try it yourself. This really isn't a tough job.

The service facility should tell you if they are replacing the rack at the same time. $695 to replace the rack and PS pump is a very low price. On the other hand, it is a high price if the price is only $150.

Get another quote or like Hachiroku says, try it yourself.
