Can you name one brand, domestic or import, that does not currently offer rebates on their '08 models? Toyota is even offering a rebate of the '09 Corolla

Ummm, Porsche? Yeah, and too many folks don't think to haggle on the rebate price - they should be treating it as the new MSRP, and offer lots less. Evidently, millions of US people are pulling their horns in and aren't venturing out to seek new vehicles, because they fear layoffs and more inflation, and they're just keeping their noses above water right now, without taking on more debt. It looks like about the only "industry" that's not facing layoffs is the US Army.
