John Galt (Alan Greenspan, Ayn Rand's protege) was one of the major parties who put the economy into its present mess.

WIlliam Seidman, head of the FDIC under Reagan and then the RTC under The Real President Bush, told Alan Greenspan that derivatives had to be regulated, but Greenspan, in true naive or crazy libertarian fashion, said they were best handled by the free market:

Anybody who believes this spending bill will do anything to create jobs of the next few years, does not seem to realize this is not like 1954, when the Interstate Highway bill was passed. At the time we were told it would take eight to ten years to get it done. It took over thirty years. Why you ask? The adoption of the EPA. As the years wore on the NIMBY environuts did everything they could to stop work.

Today we could not build the I.HE.S. as it is today, not even at ten times the cost or in thirty years.

When I was building new fleet service shop in six states in the eighties, it took me two to three years just to get the engineering company to meet all the new federal standard past the EPA and the shirks lawyers, An additional year or two just to get the building permits from Zoning, before construction could begin.

Imagine today just getting the transmission lines built to get the so call FREE electricity from the wind farms and solar arias, built to where it needs to go. The NIMBY environuts will do everything they can to stop work on that and the needed NG transmission lines to get our own NG to market.
