my salesman was great, but...

i can tell you the "closer" is full of shit. the "closer" at power toyota cerritos ("john weber")sits in a chair like this...

formatting link
and talks about how everyone needs an extended warranty on their brand new toyota, a car that has a 3/36k year warranty standard. a "7 year platinum warranty"

so i can add on another 4 years for $1600? whatta deal!

after i pointed out how hes sitting on a chair that retails anywhere from $800 and up, and surmised he must be selling a lot of extended warranties...

he shut up damn quick after that.

he also said i should finance the car for at least 5mos, so id get a better FICO score. BUAHAHAHA... bullshit, yet again

i was going to pay cash, but didnt have it all available at the time.

so i put down $5k and paid the rest in full on my first billing. i DID have to pay a $75 fee, but i knew about that up front.

so he knew better than to spiel me on the $500 can of scotchgard, the "permaplate" $600 bottle of car wax, etc.

there are a lot of good salespeople out there, but the closer is guaranteed to try to stick it to ya...

my 2 cents.

This same warranty is available on the web for $800 with a $0 deductible. Of course, that is NOW. if you have a brand new car, it isn't worth it. But the beauty of it is, you can add it at ANY time before the original warranty expires. So, 2.75 years from now, you do some shopping and buy a genuine Toyota warranty for about 1/2 of what he quoted.

The Caveat: The warranty starts from Day One, Zero Mileage. If your car has 35,000 miles on it, the warranty only covers the next 35,000 miles.
