A friend is selling a set of Tokico struts and a set of KYB struts at the same price ($300). Which are best for a '98 ES300? Which are a better deal?

In the Supra forums on the web, everyone pretty much agrees that the Tikico (OEM type) wear out faster than KYBs, and that the KYBs wear out faster than Konis. The Konis are also adjustable, but that's not the issue here.
If he has the receipt, either set has a Lifetime warranty.
Thanks for the post. So why are Tikico more expensive than the KYB?

I think Tokicos and KYBs were interchangable (from the factory) on certain models...until KYB got bought by, um, Monroe?!?!?! (I think it's Monroe...)
The only real advantage of using "stock" struts is that they are Lifetime warranty.
But, since the OP isn't getting them from a dealer, I would go with the KYBs.
If they were initially from a dealer, and he can get a receipt, he can bring them to the dealer, have them installed and they may extend the warranty to him.
