anyone know what offset gobblygook i should quote when hunting 16 inch wheels for a 1995 GLX (IRS) Tarago. Do all Ford 5-stud wheels in 16" fit OK?

I am not familiar with the model name. I assume you know you posted to a Toyota Group. Is the Tarago is a Ford, since you are asking is Ford wheels would fit.
A Tarago is the Australian name for a Previa / Estima. Greg

You are not familiar with a search engine, that's for sure.
Apparently the Tarago is the same as a Previa.
How do I know? Google says so.
Why would the poster ask specifically about Ford rims? In there a collaboration between Ford and Toyota? I know the Chevy Nova and Corolla were the same cars and the Matrix and Vibe are almost the same. But these are not Fords.

No way. GM and Toyota, yes.
To the extent that you refer to the cars concurrently produced by NUMMI, yes. Otherwise no.
Well, the rim diameter is the same across all brands. All over the world it is measured in inches. That leaves only three important measurements (besides bead profile): rim width, bolt pattern, and offset.
If the bolt pattern is the same and the rim width is the same or close, then the offset is the only variable worth mentioning. Ford 5-bolt rims just might work. Or not. If it was me, I'd take a straight-edge and a measuring tape to the wrecking yard and do my own measuring.
And you'd need to make sure the new non-Toyota wheels clear your brake calipers...
Sorry guys and thank you for the swift suggestions. Yes the Tarago is the Oz name for Previa/Estima. The only reason i mention Ford is because I see a lot of Toyotas here with OE Ford rims, and there are very few (actually....none) Toyotas with 16" steel wheels. I'll take TeGGeR®'s advice and head to the wreckers. The bloody things we go through to cart the kids!!!
