02 Camry window regulator

My 02 Camry LE started emitting wind noise at highway speeds from the drivers window, during an interstate trip I took in mid-May. The wind noise occurs randomly. If you lowered the window, there was no telling, until you closed the window, whether the window would close tight and be quiet or emit wind noise. It was only noticeable at 40 mph or higher.

Upon inspection, I discerned that the window rolls up smoothly until the last half or quarter inch. At that last half-inch, the glass appears to jump forward, towards the front of the car, so that the back vertical edge of the window is barely sealing with the rubber. Sometimes it seals just enough to stop the wind noise, other times not. The 3 other windows in the car roll all the way to the top smoothly and with no jump.

When I returned from my trip, I went to the dealer. They determine that they need to replace the window regulator, which they need to order. The part comes in a couple of days. I bring the car in and wait two hours to hear the report that the window regulator was for the wrong model year. They place an order that day, a Monday. They expect the part in two days. I call Thursday to hear they are having trouble getting the part.

Anyone know what the story is? The current Camry has completed its second model year. Is it typical for a manufacturer not to have this kind of part easily available, even if there was a change in the part for the new, two year old, model?

Are there any known problems with 02 Camry power windows?
