Hi all, Can someone suggest what grade of engine oil is suitable for 93 with 165K miles on the clock.The car is in California.

20-50 according to the temperature charts in my driver's booklet for a 4cyl- '96 which is the same car.

Wow, that is some thick oil.. I use 10-30 in winter (mild) and 10-40 in summer (hot 90-100).
Thanks guys, I will change to 10w 40 4 my next oil change

I agree and I also did a double-take,...but that is what the Toyota manual says (drivers booklet) and the engine sounds quieter. Temperatures here get to 100F regularly during summer with 108F not unusual for a couple of weeksm so it sounds like Cal weather is similar.
According to the chart I could leave 20-50 in it for winter as well, but its onthe bottom of the range, so I use 15-40.
