1995 or 1998

I have had a 1994 and 1997. My 1994 was a much nicer car inside with more room and the things you touched were much better quality than the

1997. It also got better gas mileage. Mechanically it needed a bit more maintenance. The 1997 rides and handles better. Other than the engine overhaul covered by the used car dealer it hasn't really needed any non-routine maintenance since I bought it with 60K miles. It now has 151,000 miles.

I really liked my 1994 better overall but the 1997 has been okay also. My biggest complaint is the quality of the inside, the wind/road noise and really not much else. You'll have to make your own decision.

I want to sell one of my Camrys . I want to keep the better car . The 1995 had the rack and pinion replaced , brake sensors replaced for the antilock brakes , and a new radiator , new front axles plus new tires. It has 138000 miles and runs good. The 1998 has original parts with 128000 miles and runs good .Which car do I keep?

Then keep the 1995. The decontenting in 1997 was significant enough to make the 1995 the better vehicle.

  1. Single door seals instead of triple
  2. Hood prop instead of springs
  3. No power antenna
  4. 4 cylinder engine was cheapened (at least that's what I read back in
1997, claiming no more balance shaft and a change in the valve lifters).
  1. Lower quality interior materials

As Consumer Reports stated, 'it's a wee bit better in some areas, a wee bit worse in others,' (comparing the 1996 to the 1997),

If driven in salt in winter brake lines and fuel lines rust, electric connections corrode, time is not a cars friend, especialy in winter.
