camry brake/shifter question

Apr 28, 2004 1 Replies

I have a 94 Camry LE V6. I just started noticing that when the car is in park and I step on the brake, I feel a sort of pulse or click in the gear shift. I don't have any problem shifting out of park, nor are any of my brake lights burned out. It only happens when I am in park and when I step on the brake.

Any ideas?

thanks

The symptom noted is normal operation of the shift lever lock. It keeps you from accidently shifting into gear while no brake is applied. When you step on the brake it is electrically actuated, and frees up the shifter to move into gear.

It's is not, it isn't ain't, and it's it's, not its, if you mean it is. If you don't, it's its. Then too, it's hers. It isn't her's. It isn't our's either. It's ours, and likewise yours and theirs. -- Oxford University Press, Edpress News
