Is this a common problem with Toyotas. Our '98 Avalon has had to have = this lamp replaced about 3 times in the last 18 months. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Lynn

Buy a different brand of bulb. I have seen some bulbs with an extra filament support (Phillips?). Also, bulbs that burn out repeatedly is sometimes an indication of system voltage being on the high side (16+ volts).

Also if the bulbs used came from the same package, it might have been dropped at some point shortening the life of the bulbs. I dropped a package of bulbs once unloading it from my trunk and they all worked but for a very short time.

You dropped them from your trunk? So you ARE an elephant! Shouldn't put bulbs in your trunk. They can break and cause bleeding.

Was your trunk already unlocked at the time?

Well if you want to know the details, the package was caught in my 2001 Avalon piece of crap cargo tangle it up net and in the process of untangling it I dropped the package of bulbs. Wasn't going to make this about my piece of crap Avalon but if you insist..... there you go.
