Fitting a 2007 US Toyota Camry with Metric Speedo

Interested in buying a 2007 or 2008 Camry in US and importing into Canada.

I realize that this is not a necessary step but I would like metric to appear as primary measurement on speedometer display and odometer.

Toyota dealer says it requires a $1900 replacement of instrument cluster.

Does anyone know if there is a cheaper way.

If I were you I would look at having a stick-on vinyl overlay made for it. You would still need to remove the instrument cluster and remove the clear front and needle, apply it and re-assemble. Only other alternative would be a 2nd hand unit from a metric country. I'm not sure if you can get metric ones over there but they would be available here in Australia, and I could find out the price and post you one.

Cheers, Phill.

The metric scale is not as important as you might think. You get used to converting from mph to kph for a few key speed limits (40, 50, 80,

100) and you don't even think about it after a while. (or so I've heard from other importers; I plan to import a US Subaru in the Spring)
