There was a rocking noise coming from the hood area...., the car was fixed and diagnosed to have been coming from a bad water pump......
what causes that rocking noise? Any exp?

It was the bearing in the pump,...the usual process is: coolant leaks past the pump's seal and over a fairly short time damages the double row ball-bearing. The bearing then can make a variety of noises as it deteriorates.

wow... that totally adds up.
the radiator busted on the top a few weeks b4 this noise came about. thank you.......
now, what would have happened if i just drove with the noise and turn up the radio?
