Sat for 2006 XLE JBL 6 Disc Changer

I have a 2006 Camry XLE with the JBL 6 disc changer which includes the 'SAT' button for satellite reception. Recently went to the dealer to find out about installing a satellite receiver and was told that it would cost me around $1,000. That is around $300 for the receiver and another $6-700 to remove the rear seats and trunk panels to install the wiring - a two day job.

I like the idea of being able to use the built-in radio for satellite reception with no external devices mounted around the dashboard and the accompanying power wire, but $1,000????!!! Anyone else run into this? Any less expensive ways to incorporate the satellite receiver into the in-dash unit at a reasonable cost? I would like to avoid the dash-mounted satellite unit if possible.

Not sure you want to do this, my JBL premium sound 6 disc changer only lasted 3 years.

Dealers always overcharge in this area. Check

and see if there are any interface modules for satellite stuff for your car. They may be able to give you pointers to good local installers they work with.
