Should I bother changing the tranmission gasket?

1999 Camry LE 4 cyl engine. It has been 53k miles since the transmission fluid and gasket were replaced. Since there really isn't a filter, should I bother taking down the pan to replace the gasket? Or just change the fluid?

Toyota recommends drain and refill.

Try changing the fluid at 30,000 mile intervals. You don't need to replace the gasket unless there is seepage. Just remember, draining the pan only removes a portion of the fluid, so more often is better. When re filling, make the final level check with the transmission at operating temperature - after driving minimum 10 miles, to avoid over filling.
