Hi everybody,

looking to buy a used Toyota. How can you detect that the mileage dial hasn't been tampered with?

If the numbers are unequal, it could be an indication.

If its been serviced at a dealer then they can provide service record. New electronic speedo can be turned back (or replaced) and you'll never know unless you run into the previous owner and he tells you it had a gazillion miles on it. New brake/clutch pads are a giveaway as is a sagging seat and worn carpet.

Buy from a private party with service history documentation including mileage at time of service.
