2005 Highlander Comments

-Does any one has experience or information about Highlander turning over. The car is on truck frame and is high; the manual does warn about turn overs at high winds/curve driving and at high speeds.

-after 4 weeks of the new car purchase, parked in garage, battery went dead. dealer sent tow truck with battery booster (after calling 4 times and waiting 5 hours) and started in 2 minutes. took to dealer for complete ignition/battery.altenator, etc.system check; they coul't find any defects. they advised not to leave doors open or lights or radio etc on overnight.

If the radio turns off with the key, that's that. It's off. The rest is obvious, but the guy who said "radio" should be hit with a cream pie. I suspect the truck has lots of interior lights, right? Have a family conference and explain which ones go off when the doors shut, and which do not. Kids are famous for playing with interior lights. If you stamp out that as a cause and the problem persists, get all over the dealer like cats on mice until they figure out what's going on.

As far as rolling over, *ALL* trucks have a higher risk than sedans, especially when handled by lousy drivers who have no sense of what the vehicle is doing. As long as you're not one of those, you have no problems.

Highlander is NOT on a truck frame --- its under pinings are from the Camry. It is not really high --- hence not designated for off road use like the $Rnr (which has a trcuk like frame). Look on the drivers sun visor and see if there is a warning about handling/rollover possibility. Stability control is option on 4Rnr - probably on Highlander.

Maybe the manual contains the warning because some government genius thought the vehicle looked like a truck, and required the warning.
