how often should a fuel filter be changed?
The inline EFI fuel filter only needs to be replaced when you know it's clogged - as in, you got a load of really crappy gas that got past the 'sock' fuel filter inside the tank. And you'll likely find that out when the crud kills the in-tank electric fuel pump, and the inline filter kept it out of the injectors.
Plus, the fuel line fittings often get stripped or the lines tweaked when you try replacing it, so don't buy yourself any more trouble than you need.
If you get your gasoline from commercial gas stations most of them have filters before the gas pumps, and the gasoline is filtered before it goes into the tank truck, so your chances of getting crappy gas are very low. (Water in the gas, on the other hand, can happen almost anywhere they aren't careful...) It's people buying their gasoline from 5-gallon cans or a 55-gallon drum in South America or Africa that run the risk of getting dirty gas.

I changed mine at 80,000K and it didn't need it. The old one was still flowing freely. Dealer doesn't even have it as a regular service item.
