Best years for 4x4 Pickup?

I have a 1986 XtraCab 4x4 and am considering a newer truck. I've heard that the 86 - 88 models are better built than the newer ones! I'm happy with the

22RE engine, but the trans will need work soon (noisy in all but 4th gear!). I do what an XtraCab, 5 speed 4x4. What years should I look at? glen at ccim.net

Anything up to '95 is much the same truck. (pre-Tacoma)

I have an '05 4x4 SR5 Tundra Access Cab. I shopped around and checked out all of my options first. I even looked at the big 3. I am extremely satisfied with this truck, it's all I could ever ask for in a pickup truck!
