I have a 2002 Tacoma 4x4 with 265/70/16 tires on factory steel rims. I would like to get 265/75/16 BFG AT's but I am concerned about rubbing with the extra 5% tallness and the extra meatiness of the tread on the BFG's compared to the factory tires I have on the truck now. Does anybody think I will have a problem with rubbing. Should I stick with 70's instead of 75's? Thanks in advance.
The overall diameter of the 275s that you like is 1.6 inches bigger than the factory tires. If you went withthe 275/70 instead of the 275/75, then the new tires would only be about 1/2 inch taller.
I dont think that those tyre will be any cause for concern. Go for it. Your speedo will be out by a small margin now though.
60MPH on your speedo may mean that your actually going 65 give or take a few.I have upgraded my tires from 265/70/16 to 265/75/16. I have a 2" lift and there is no hint of rubbing. I think there would have had only slight rubbing had not lifted the truck.
I would suggest you look at the Bridgestone Dueler Revos tires.
Another point is before the new tires my speedo was off by about 10%, with the new (and larger tires) it is almost 100% accurate (as measured with a GPS). It makes me wonder how many other people have had the same thing happen.

Hi Guy, First off Jeff read your question wrong, He thought you were asking about 275's when in fact your question is 265-70 verses 265-75. The answer is 265-75 will definately fit Guarenteed, no problems. However Jeff was right in recomending 275-70's, a lower profile, with the same outside diameter as the 265-75's Also no problem on this truck. No lift needed, guarenteed. I even met a guy upstate NY who had 285-75's on a tacoma with no lift and no rubbing, though I'm not sure of the year,
