I am looking to buy an early 80's Toyota pickup. I have come across two that fit my budget. I live in Denver and am looking of a truck to use during the restoration of my home. Basically I am looking to spend less than $1000. I am not that familiar with the older trucks but am a Toyota fan. I have come across an '84 short bed five speed 4x4 that has 200K on it for $950. I drove it and it seems to run very well. The problem with it is that the front supports for the bed have deteriorated or rusted out. Don't know how much of a problem this is? The other is a "1983 TOYOTA PICK UP,
22R, 5sp, good runner, new tires, radiator, water pump, engine well maintained." for about $900 or so. Haven't seen it yet and has over 150K on it. It does have the long bed on it which is nice for hauling stuff but I don't know how much weight either of these can carry. Any suggestions would be helpful. I don't know if not getting the 4 wheel drive would be a mistake?
I am also up for any other offers if anyone out there has a truck in the Denver area that is for sale. Thanks for the help.
