Locking hub won't

Jun 24, 2007 3 Replies

Just had new brakes on my 84 Longbed Deluxe 4x4. 89k and original owner. Got stuck big time in mud. Hubs locked in fine, and after an hour of shoveling, was out. Spun hubs to free and away I went. Drove home 70 miles at 60-65 mph. Decided to play it safe and attempted to lock them in a couple days ago when I was confronted with another mud hole. Drivers side locked in fine, passenger side stopped about half way between free and lock. No amount of backing and forward motion would help. Made it through the mud without 4 wheel drive, but wonder if it was something I'd done previously or the tech may have put something back together incorrectly.

Ideas please.

Thanks Mark

Proll got mud in it, need to remove and clean.

Sound like a nice Sunday evening project; next week! LOL

Hope that's all it will turn out to be.

Don't wait too long, could also be grit in the wheel bearing.
