I would think it stands for Single Rear Wheel Scott
As opposed to a Dually?
Yes, I have seen dualies listed as DRW and non=dualies as SRW. Scott
I knew I was gonna feel silly when you gave the answer ...
The odd thing is, I EXPECT a truck to be SRW unless otherwise indicated. Dually is an exception to the standard configuration, so it is important to denote Dual Rear Wheels, but a single rear wheel does not demand special attention.
Yes, but the subject would only be on 1-Ton rated trucks (maybe 1.5) where the option could go either way. In cities with Weight Limits on some streets you can drive a SRW truck with the capacity badges stripped off the cab and bed and get away with it, but DRW on the truck would be a big red flag to an over-zealous cop looking to pad his ticket count for the month.
(But of course, there are no "Traffic Ticket Quotas", Nosiree Bob! Those are illegal! But they do have "Work Performance Targets" to hit, and one of those metrics they watch is tickets issued...) When you get up into F-550 and C-60 territory I don't think they make singles that big, and they'd tend to be rather obvious to people (like that cop) who know what to look for. Like the 'Super Singles' they use on cement trucks.
