I recently purchased a set of Toyota rims that came on a 02 Sequoia. These are the split 5 spoke 'mags'. In order to mount these rims on my 98 PreRunner I had to purchase new lug nuts, which I purchased at a local Kragen's..
When installing the rims the 'shank' of the lug nut bottom's out on the axle (in back) and rotor (in front) without the wheel becoming snugged up.
Apparently - these are the wrong lug nuts for this vehicle. Differences do exist. Long story shorter, Until I can obtain the 'correct' lug nuts, would it hurt to either:
A. Install a wheel spacer (approx 3/16")
or
B. Use additional washers.
If 'B' is viable, would lock washers be acceptable. Which leads me to another question, why aren't lock washers (split washers) used in this area?
