OBD II reader for a Toyota Tundra

A while back, I posted a query regarding the use of an OBD II reader for a

2005 Toyota Tundra. I received several responses with some suggested products. I recently went back to try and find the old listing and they are no longer availble, probably my computer. To start again, I want to buy a good reader for the least price. I have a laptop so that is also a possibly. Any new suggestions?

Check eBay for OBD II Scan Tool, and variations.

Actron makes a hand-held unit that will attract your attention. It is offered in several models, with the more pricey units having more features and functions. You'll find several (if not all) of their units available on eBay.

I bought one awhile back when my Mazda dealer wanted the same price as the Acton unit to tell me what the check engine code was on my Miata. I have used it a couple times already, so I feel money ahead of the game at this point. Lots of reference sites available on the internet to help decipher the codes too.

If you have an OBD II reader for your Mazda, then you can use it on your Tundra. OBD II is OBD II in all cars and trucks.

Don't forget to check on eBay. I found that my neighborhood parts store sold the same unit for about the same price, and they covered the shipping. Your cost analysis has to include shipping costs from the website to you. I think yo can find the unit down on the corner for about the same price, and take it home as soon as you whip out your credit card or wad of cash, as the case may be.
