rubber bumpers for bug deflector

Jul 17, 2003 9 Replies

My '98 4-runner has somesort of plastic guard over the front of the hood to protect against stones and bugs. It originally had a few rubber bumpers that stuck on the hood to keep the unit from vibrating. Over its 5-year life, the bumpers have slowly all fallen off. The dealer's solution is a $100 guard, if I talk to the parts department. I'm sure if I talked to a car salesman, he would have a $35,000 solution to offer. Does anyone know a source to get rubber bumpers?

thanks

Get a hold of the company that made your bug guard and ask them for replacements.

Skip

Hardware store sell little rubber feet for pots; they come in all sizes.

Check again with the parts department. I was able to purchase a kit with both the rubber bumpers and the fasteners when I had the same problem a couple of years ago.

Sure, you can buy a hardware kit for the factory bud deflector, it will come with all new bumbers and mounting hardware. It cost close to $20

They sure do, I've boughten them personally.

Go to A body shop they usually have a bunch of extras. Thats where I got my. Cost me nothing.
