Tacoma and driving thru water

I prefer having a distributor while driving around in water because a little squirt of WD-40 in the cap and away I go!

I've done it countless times. No problem. Of course, my truck is one of the good old fashioned xtrcab deluxe. I've had very little trouble with water in the axles and I've been in some pretty deep stuff over the years. I had a water/mud line wrapping around the top of my hood and under my mirrors for a couple of years. I had to let it wear off, it wouldn't scrub off. Anyway, I've had very little problem with water getting into my componenets because I keep going and the air cavity that forms below the truck doesn't allow submerbence of the axles unless I stop. I do have to regrease everything after being underwater though. I never have warped an axle from sudden emersion in cold water either. How cold does the water have to be to warp a hot axle? I bent one, however.

Hi have done this mod to many vehicles exhaust is not important, engine air intake very important and a snorkel must be fitted also the breathers on the gearboxes and diffs must be removed and nipels with hoses fitted to reach above the expected water line to prevent water ingres when a warm box or diff cools rapidly and draws in water. and after the watery event the wheel bearings repacked ( these prepacked with water resistant greese).

Me and a friend used to do a lot of river fishing and gigging, sometimes we'd drive through backwater to get to best spots. I sealed my distributor and plug wire connections with a spray product made for that. Used to find it at most auto parts stores, once when I didn't have any handy I used wife's spray polyurathane spray for hobby stuff and it worked as well. HTH, davidj92
