I've got a few friends with Jeeps, but I've never had to get one of them to pull my 4x4 Tacoma out of a sticky situation. Last week, after Tulsa was hit with a second round of snow, making our total on the ground around 21", though, I had to pull out a Jeep. I took great pride in this, and here's a link to the photographic evidence.
About 6 years ago I pulled a F350 dually out with my 87 4runner. The guy seemed a little embarrassed that a little Jap 4 cylinder had to jank a big bad diesel out.
My 91 4runner that I'm driving this winter sure eats up the snow. I had to get through 20" earlier this winter to get to a jobsite. Thankfully, it was fresh light snow, but I didn't even spin a tire.
Conversely, my Toyota 6 cylinder pickup was constantly getting stuck in the sand of Death Valley, East Mojave Desert, Amargosa Desert, Great Basin Desert, Sonoran Desert, and Black Rock Desert. The wheels are narrow and small, and they sink. I took to carrying four 2x12 wood planks to drive on crossing arroyos.
got stuck at steamboat wells and had 6 crazy german tourists basically carry my little 4 banger to the road.
