54 bug heater channels, repair or replace

I have a 54 bug and I am planning on having some work done on it, upon the realisation that I cant do it myself. Can these heater channels be repaired, or will they have to be replaced?

I dont want to make it show winner or anything, just to be able to drive it.

Thanks

Nice project car!

Tough call. Looks like the rockers (sills) need to be replaced, but maybe leave the orig heater channels in place.

Best luck,

Hi,

perhaps you should wait until the car is sandblasted (or rustfree in another way) to make the decision. At the moment i would agree to Jim and Joey. But things might change when the rust is off...

But there is something else: Did you notice that the rear connection plate (i don=B4t know the right word), the part below the enginehood, that you bought is for a younger model? Perhaps you should try to get the right one. It doesn=B4t take more time to weld in the correct one an it looks much better, in my opinion.

Great car though. Have fun!! Greetings from Germany

Certainly try to repair them - you can't get new channels in the original shape.
