64 vw steering adjustment - wheels rubs when turned hard right

When I crank my wheel hard to the right, the inside of the tire rubs on the floorpan on my 64 beetle convertible. On the ball joint beams on newer beetles (66 on) , there is a wheel lock stop that can be ajusted to limit the distance of the turn, preventing this from happening. I can't find anything similar on the linkpin setup on my 64. Is an adjustment of this type possible on the linkpin type front end? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Jim. That's the conclusion I came to on my own, but I wanted to get a second opinion. I guess I'm not as dumb as I look. I've done a fair amount of research, but can't find any specs on the measurement of the placement of the steering box, but I kinda doubt that it could have moved much. I've owned the car for 30 some years and it's something that I've learned to live with. I've never had anything done to the box but an occasional snugging up and topping off with oil. She tracks down the road extremely well and the steering is well within tolerance, so it seems unlikely that there is much wrong with the tie rods, etc. Probably the easiest way is to live with it, but I will investigate welding a stop somewhere to limit the turn. It doesn't have to do much, since it's rubs mostly when I am backing up. After spending the last few years restoring her, it just sorta drives me nuts when I forget. Of course for me, that is a pretty short trip....

65 and older car do not have a steering angle limit. It is made by the spindle itself. when bushings are seriously worn the steering travel increase. if all is tight you have to weld on the point just in the rear of the thread of the front backing plate bolt. this is the angle limiter.
