Here's my "plan." I attached a really heavy gauge wire to the coil and ran it all the way over to the battery. It has a big alligator clip on the end by the battery. If/when the problem happens again I'll reach around right away and hook the cable up to the battery. If that "fixes" it then it must be something in the wiring up front. If not then that leaves the coil, the distributor, the aftermarket ignition box thingie, or a fuel problem. I'm also going to put a clear fuel filter inline so I can monitor the fuel situation better. If it turns out to NOT be the "wiring up front" or a fuel problem then I'll replace the coil. Hopefully one of those things will fix it since none of those things are expensive.
