are the new Mexican VW motors reliable?

My motor is sick and it will be needing replacement very soon. The local shop has a new VW Mexico longblock in the box, but heard that these motors use cast rather than forged parts. Is this true? Do these engines last/are they reliable? Would I be better off with a rebuilt or a rebuilt with a new case? I currently have Kadrons and these will go on whatever motor I get, if this makes any difference. Thank you, Theodore
