Bug Swarm IX

Here's the best picture I took today. If you look closely in the suitcase you will see an X emblem in the middle.

The Green 1959 is ours. It had a swamp cooler on the passenger side window which garnered quite a few comments. The manual pump in front of the car is an antique car tire pump, not a bicycle pump.

There was also a rust bucket 1947 (with a shiny black W rear decklid!:~) at the show. Here's a picture or three of it:

The last shot I left as a fairly good sized picture and file. You'll see why when you look at it!:~)

Overall it was a very nice day. Overcast for most of the morning and in the afternoon it was partly cloudy with a high in the middle 80s. Unfortunately we didn't sell the other car we took out (the 1970 blue and white car. I failed to get a picture of it) and Scott sold very little of the junk we took with us. On a good note, I did win three door prizes; a key chain, a can of engine de-greaser, and an Empi poster. Why couldn't it have been just one case of oil instead of these things???

Saw some ramvites out there and talked with lots of folks. Dave from Hot VWs was present (although I didn't speak with him) and he was taking lots of pictures from what I hear.

Hope everyone had a good time. I'm just glad it was only a couple of miles from our house. Scott and I didn't have a long cruise to or from the show, but it was a day well spent.

That fellow was selling that car because he wanted the cash to put it into his other '67 automobile...a Corvette. Like the sale price of a '67 Beetle would go very far in obtaining parts and service for a goofy 'Vette!:~)

In answer to your question, he was asking $4,500. In my opinion he was a little optimistic for that car, unless he found someone who absolutely had to have a '67 Beetle and no other would do. Don't mistake me, his is a complete car with the correct engine, etc., but honestly, given a choice between that car and the blue one we have and would like to sell, I'd probably take the blue 1970 because it has a bigger engine, recently re-built, and no floorpan rust to speak of and it drives great. Of course there is the small matter of a little paint and body work it needs!:~)
