Comments on these heads, this dealer, and trike motor project??

Hello all, Been browsing around here and alot of VW places over the last couple weeks as my neighbor has commissioned my services to build a new motor for his trike. I've done alot of engine building so that's not a big deal other than learning the few intricacies of the VW motors, although I will likely have alot of questions in the next few weeks.

First of all, any comments on these heads and this seller would be appreciated:

The subject motor is likely going to be a 1776(69 x 90.5). We have 2 motors to start from: #1: stock 1600 DP, with the only real visible problem at the moment being at least 2 boogered sparkplug holes, ran good otherwise. As far as we know this is a virgin with stock internals.

#2 low miles 1776 motor that scorched one piston. WAS a fresh motor that I suspect simply got run too hard and too hot, maybe the timing was messed up, who knows?? Of course with the scorched piston comes the included trash spread through the bottomn end(no oil filter system), although the damage so far looks very minor. Does have a 69mm counterweighted crank that appears undamaged, so that will likely be used in the new motor if it out checks good. (BTW, this motor had stock heads, with cracks around teh sparkplug bosses, junk)

The primary reason for aquiring this motor was the fact that it came cheap and had a

40 or 44IDF(don't remember for sure as I just gave it a quick glance) on top of it, this carb and a few other trinkets included are worth WAY more than the asking price of the motor. Is this carb worth keeping or should we dump it on Ebay(or here) for something more sane??

So, I'm headed out to build a motor using whatever pieces I can scrounge from these 2 motors(if any) and whatever else I need to buy new. I'm sure I will be back for more questions...................

Thanks for any comments for now. Tom
