Does a 66' 912 fit in this group ?

There are a few folks such as myself monitoring this group who have a VW sharing a garage with a Porsche.

However, your 912 doesn't have a whole lot of VW parts. Most aircooledVWs are either accurate restorations (and not exactly hotrods) or hotrods (and not full of original parts); your 912 is quite a bit different.

You should take a look at alt.autos.porsche and some of the Porsche mailing lists and bulletin boards:

I have 2 (both '68s) in my stable. As long as nobody is too put-off then go ahead post. I know how tough it is to find good info on 912s since you have to talk to 356 people for engine matters and 911 people for chassis - ugh. Great cars though...

Mexican rabbit? What years were they? I thought they went from production in Germany straight to Westmoreland, PA, at which point they turned to complete crap.

Sorry - don't mean to split hairs over the country of origin of a poorer-built vehicle, but if I had to choose one to buy, I'd go for Mexican. Our low-mileage American minivan recently cost me $2700 because Chrysler couldn't build a decent car if they had to (and people are stupid enough to sign up for another round as a repeat buyer!). It's the last domestic that will enter my garage, if I can help it. Incidentally, the transmission, which failed due to either a design flaw or manufacturing defect (a press fit was designed or built too loose) was assembled less than 45 miles from my house.
