Electrical issues

I am new at working on my own car (my dad's always helped me but never would let me do anything) He put Bus tail-lights on my 69 bug as a "custom look" and now one of them won't stay on, it works when it wants t, the blinker works fine... it's just the tail light and brake light. I've replaced the light but it still wiggles in there. Does anyone know how to make it stay on? It might be a wire issue or a tail light hardware issue, should i bite the bullet and take it in to someone. Also my brake lights are intermittent and have always been that way... any suggestions? I hope my dad didn't screw it up too badly....

Appreciate any help you can give me! Thanks!

well, these cars are getting old and connections are getting corroded. I have to check the lights all the time. If I find a light that doesn't work it is usually loose in the socket. I cut a sliver of copper. like maybe flattened wire. and put it in the socket along with the bulb to tighten it up. don't put in too deep. clean wire connections to and always check the grounds. and good luck!
