Exploded Emergency brake

May 13, 2004 2 Replies

A couple of weeks ago I yanked a bit too hard on the emergency brake and it no longer works. My guess is that the cable ws loose and when I gave the handle a big yank I allowed the pawl to go above the top of the ratchet segment.

Does anyone know how hard it is to put the emergency brake assembly back together after an incident like this? Might I be better off trying to find a emergency brake assembly that is intact?

TIA

Steve

Not hard at all. Just need to figure it out, it's like one of those puzzle game things :)

I did that once but I was able to fix it without disassembling anything other than the nuts on the cables. ISTR flipping the pawl around and fiddling with the release button so the curved end engaged it again properly. In a bug anyhow.
