hi all, i had some trans problems the other day so i pulled the engine ect since i have put the engine back in when i turn the key to the first notch(57 beetle) only the red light comes on no green light. the car does start so i thought mabey it did not get a good connection to the oil sensor??? is there a way to check to make sure the wire is good? if i take my volt meter and ground oine end then stick the positive to the oil wire when the key is turned will(or should there be power)? thanks for any help russ

Take the wire off the sensor and ground it to the engine, key "on". If no light then the bulb or connections or wire is bad, (got pinched and broken internally during eng. R&R operation?).
If the light works then the sensor is bad.
