HO HO HO!!!

Merry xmas and all that stuff to y'all. The kids are all happy with the materialistic gifts we showered onto them. The coffee pot I got for my wife was broken out of the box, and we only have one bottle of wine left to try out her fancy new wine cork opener thingie on. I got an extension cord reel thingie and a pair of "ratcheting" adjustable wrenches and some Hickory Farms stuff from my dad. How did y'all make out? I hope everyone has a relaxing holiday.

I made out great. Got a new propane heater for the shop. One of those turbo-types that construction crews use to heat areas so I know I will be toasty. I love my wife.

Merry Christmas all. We had coffee pot troubles as well. The darn thing was suppose to come with filters but none were to be found in the box. My son drove to the local convenience store (which doesn't sell filters) and begged for a filter. The lady there said "sure, no problem...Merry Christmas" Santa Dad got him his wagon wheel rice burner wheels and other associated rice burning accessories. He got me a good sized gift certificate for Home Depot which should last for about one slow pass down the tool isle. : ) Too cold today to do any wrenching in the garage.

Sweet. I've been wanting one of those for years. I was visiting a friend of mine in Rocky Mt once years ago and he and some other guys were in a band. They practiced out in a big old barn. A bunch of us went out there to listen to them practice and drink some beer. It was super cold outside but when we got to the barn one of the guys fired up one of those heater things (although I think it was a kerosene version) and it heated up the whole freakin' barn in about 10 minutes. Got so hot we that we took our coats off and opened the door some to cool off. HO HO HO!!!

Merry Christmahannukawanzaka to all!

Spent the afternoon and evening at the in-laws' yesterday. All 29 of them. What a zoo!

I got a toaster, a new coffee grinder, Assorted clothing items, the new k.d. lang disc, Second City TV's first season on DVD, some green tea, Jon Stewart's "America," and a subscription to Maxim magazine.

I gave my kids various and sundry swell stuff, including an MP3 player to my son, a pea coat, a copy of "Napoleon Dynamite," on DVD, and weird African mask; to my daughter I gave a gift certificate to her favorite downtown clothing store (and complimentary trip on the train with Dad and any friend she might invite to said store -- making an adventure of it), lots of clothing and a copy of the extended version of "Return of the King," on DVD. To my wife I gave a Panini maker, a Water-Pik, many many earrings and bracelets and other assorted cute jewelry, and a promise to master the new espresso machine her sister gave her yesterday by the time she gets back later this morning from visiting the child she is advocating for in the foster child court system.

Just stuff, stuff and more stuff. The best part? I've finally gotten satisfied enough with myself and my life that I don't have any wish for any stuff for myself. Just the pleasure of giving to the family. Which is kinda selfish in its own way, I suppose. So I reckon I am not yet there in terms of selflessness. More work to do!

Again, happy holidays to you and yours. And many thanks to all who have offered help and shown patience with me while I climb the 1971 Type 2 VW learning curve.

FWIW, on complex shapes like the Ghia, I use a 8 X 10" sheet of very hard rubber. It's maybe 3/8" thick and is hard enough that it takes some effort to bend to shape. A full sheet of Wet-or-Dry handles quite nicely and you don't get the straight-edge effect of a block.

Good luck on your project.

We have several of those heaters. They really put out the heat but require from one to three 100# tanks(depending on BTU output) hooked together, to supply enough propane to keep them going. Also, good ventilation is a must. Have fun! H

then add the carcass. Simmer for half an hour keeping the stock thick. Remove the carcass and add the vegetables slowly to the stock, so that it remains boiling the whole time. Cover the pot and simmer till vegetables are tender (2 hours approximately). Continue seasoning to taste. Before serving, add butter and pasta, serve piping with hot bread and butter.

Offspring Rolls

Similar to Vietnamese style fried rolls, they have lots of meat (of course this can consist of chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp). Who can resist this classic appetizer; or light lunch served with a fresh salad? Versatility is probably this recipe?s greatest virtue, as one can use the best part of a prime, rare, yearling, or the morticians occasional horror: a small miracle stopped short by a drunk driver, or the innocent victim of a drive-by shooting...

2 cups finely chopped very young human flesh 1 cup shredded cabbage 1 cup bean sprouts 5 sprigs green onion, finely chopped 5 cloves minced garlic 4-6 ounces bamboo shoots Sherry chicken broth oil for deep frying (1 gallon) Salt pepper soy & teriyaki minced ginger, etc. 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in a little cold water 1 egg beaten

Make the stuffing: Marinate the flesh in a mixture of soy and teriyaki sauces then stir fry in hot oil for till brown - about 1 minute, remove. Stir-fry the vegetables. Put the meat back into the wok and adjust the seasoning. De-glaze with sherry, cooking off the alcohol. Add broth (optional) cook a fe

Cajun Babies

Just like crabs or crawfish, babies are boiled alive! You don?t need silverware, the hot spicy meat comes off in your hands.

6 live babies 1 lb. smoked sausage 4 lemons whole garlic 2 lb. new potatoes 4 ears corn 1 box salt crab boil

Bring 3 gallons of water to a boil. Add sausage, salt, crab boil, lemons and garlic. Drop potatoes in, boil for 4 minutes. Corn is added next, boil an additional 11 minutes. Put the live babies into the boiling water and cover. Boil till meat comes off easily with a fork.

Oven-Baked Baby-Back Ribs

Beef ribs or pork ribs can be used in this recipe, and that is exactly what your dinner guests will assume! An excellent way to expose the uninitiated to this highly misunderstood yet succulent source of protein.

2 human baby rib racks 3 cups barbecue sauce or honey glaze (see index) Salt black pepper white pepper paprika

Remove the silverskin by loosening from the edges, then stripping off. Season generously, rubbing the mixture into the baby?s flesh. Place 1 quart water in a baki

I got a DVD of the World Series. Did you hear the Red Sox won it?

We had a bunch of people over for an Eggs Benedict brunch, and 6 adults, one of whom was pregnant so she didn't drink much, polished off 3 bottles of champagne. My son is home on leave from the Navy, and his best friend who is on leave from the Army came over too. We had a fire in the fireplace.

I just fetched myself a cold beer from the back porch. HO HO HO!!!

Miscarriage with Mustard Greens

Why waste it? Otherwise, and in general, use ham or salt pork to season greens. The technique of smothering greens can be used with many vegetables; green beans work especially well. Meat is not necessary every day, don?t be afraid to alter any dish to vegetarian tastes.

1 premature baby, born dead Large bunch of mustard greens 2 white onions, 1 cup chopped celery Vegetable oil (or hog fat) Salt, pepper, garlic, etc.

Lightly brown onions, celery, garlic and meat in large heavy pot. Add a little water and the greens (which should be thoroughly cleaned and washed). Smother slowly for at least 2 hours, adding small amounts of water when it starts to stick. Stir frequently. When ready - serve with rice, grilled smoked sausage, green salad, and iced tea. Coffee and apple pie then brandy.

Maternity Ward Pot Luck Dinner

If you can?t get anything fresh from the hospital, nursery, or morgue; you can at least get rid of all the leftovers in your refrigerator.

1 - 2 lbs. cubed meat (human flesh, chicken, turkey, beef...) 1 -2 lbs. coarsely chopped vegetables (carrots, potatoes, turnips, cauliflower, cabbage...) Bell pepper onions garlic ginger salt pepper, etc. Olive oil butter

Brown the meat and some chopped onions, peppers, and garilic in olive oil, place in baking dish, layer with vegetables seasoning and butter. Bake at 325° for 30 - 45 minutes. Serve with hot dinner rolls, fruit salad and sparkling water.
