Can anyone please tell me how to determine what hotspots an engine has.
We have a 1600 AD engine - twin port, thats easy, but want to get a new exhaust (muffler?) how do we know whether to get a twin hotspot, left or right. Cant tell from whats on since the PO installed a 4 tip Monza and we want something less brash.

Thats exactly what I want to do!
I think by a process of elimination that we need an exhaust which has a right hand hot spot - thats what the catalog calls it.

I think that "hotspot" is the British word for the heat risers.

Its not pea shooters, I think we're on the right lines with heat risers.
OK how do I tell which muffler I need with a 1600 AD engine previously fitted with a Monza which we want to return to stock. Single or twin risers, left, right or both.

now im all confused...this makes no sense...to my knowledge all the
1600's had the same muffler till 75 when they went to the single exhaust tip...that would also be when they went to fuel injection, so im not sure how the heat riser system worked on those...if you have a carbed engine it should use the "standard" replacement muffler...one heat riser each side, and two exhaust outlets....does your car have two outlet holes in the apron or one on the right?
