Hi AllI just got a 75 fuel injected non-super bug. It has been sitting since91 (that's the date on the last inspection sticker).Before I try anything, I'd like to make sure that it doesn't sucksludge through the injectors so cleaning the tank is probably a goodidea, right?Is just emptying the tank enough? Or is there a way for me to take thetank out and clean it? (It must have rust and gunk build up all over,right?)Is that is possible, how do I do this? One way I have seen done is to remove the tank and put "The Works" into the tankand hit the inside with a power washer.A better way would be to have the tank clean and professionally sealed. I paid$50 for a non-VW to do that. A thirdoption is just to buy a new tank.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input - thanks!

Initially I figured that the tank had to be replaced, but after scoping it out, I found it is actually in good shape. It had goo on the inside, but rust is really minimal! The chain/ Nut/bolt trick worked great and it is really clean now -- thanks, guys!

One comment mentioned that the original German parts are very well made. You were not kidding -- this thing is built like a tank! :) Regards, Remco
